Kuala Lumpur Book Run 2018

Tuesday, April 03, 2018

Telling the truth, I am not a good runner to begin with. But, I have being thinking about joining a running event for quiet sometimes but never actually do it. 2018 is my starting point when one of my friends from University asked me to join in KL World Urban Run on last February. It was fun and I am so proud of myself. Since then, I started to browse through the internet to actually sign in for another run, Kuala Lumpur Book Run 2018 caught my attention. I love to read books and I really thought that by participating in this run I could possibly spread the good and healthy campaign for all the readers and bookworms out there.

Pada hari larian tempoh hari, they were also signed the declaration to lobby Kuala Lumpur to become the UNESCO's World Book Capital in 2020. Aku memang sangat menyokong deklarasi yang ditandatangani tersebut because for me it is a good effort to boost the reading culture among the community. Berdasarkan kajian interim yang dijalankan oleh Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia pada tahun 2014, which is four years ago, bilangan buku yang dibaca oleh rakyat Malaysia secara puratanya adalah 15 buah buku setahun. This figure is much better jika nak dibandingkan dengan kajian yang sama dijalankan pada tahun 2005 di mana rakyat Malaysia hanya membaca secara purata 2 buah buku sahaja setahun. Hopefully, kalau Kuala Lumpur berjaya dalam pembidaan sebagai Ibu Kota Buku Dunia, the reading culture in Malaysia will have a positive change.

Showing My Support to Kuala Lumpur
It was a great opportunity for me to be part of the good cause. Not only I have fun running but I am also supporting Kuala Lumpur to be the World Book capital in 2020. sebagai menunjukkan semangat kecintaan kepada buku dan bacaan, I will also bring my wife to the KL International Book Festivals (KLIBF 2018) yang akan diadakan di PWTC pada 27 April hingga 6 Mei 2018 nanti. Lets go and support this event Malaysians!!
