Book Review: Nothing Ventured by Jeffrey Archer

I still remember my first introduction to a Jeffrey Archer book was way back during my collage year when I bought the hardcover version of Paths of Glory . His imagination and craftsmanship in storytelling in Path of Glory was absolutely brilliant and left me wanting for more from the author. Then, I bought my second book authored by Jeffrey Archer,The Prisoner of Birth and from that point of time I've made my mind that he is going to be one of my favorite authors. I've read his books since then and the last book that I read from him, if I am not mistaken was one of the books from the Clifton Chronicles series which was a brilliant and enjoyable read.

Now lets talk about Nothing Ventured which is happened to be the new beginning of a new series by Archer. The story is about a young man named William Warwick who is aiming for a career as a detective/ police officer despite of his father, barrister Sir Julian's wish for him to read the law. Then he get into the police force after graduating from university and then get posted to arts and antique squad, where he has to investigate the theft of a masterpiece art. I have to say that, the premise is very simple, straightforward and predictable at times with all those investigations that go in every directions but when the court proceeding started, boom! it was epic.

William, of course he is still new and inexperience in this first book but I really like how the character is developed throughout the entire story. But my favorites characters would be the father-daughter duo, Sir Julian Warwick and William's sister Grace. These two are absolutely stunning, attractive and very admirable characters and I hope that I can still see them in the next installment. As for William I believe that he will be much better after this since the entire series would be revolved around him as he climbs the ranks in the police department and solving one crime after another.

All in all, it is a great start of a new incredible adventure and I can't wait to read the second book which is due to be released soon. Until then, I have another Archer's book, Head You Win in mind. Should i buy it? I think I would.
